Obituary of Alice M. Blair

(nee Mawson) On June 28, 2009 of Kirkwood, NJ age 88yrs. Beloved wife of the late Basil H. Devoted mother of Carolyn A. Wysocki and her husband Joseph L. of Gainesville, VA, Alan H. Blair and his wife Elaine of Berlin, NJ, Basil H. Blair, II and his wife Lori A. of Pine Hill, NJ and the late Virginia A. Clevenger and her husband John of Cincinnati, OH. Grandmother of 13, Great Grandmother of 11. Sister of the late Thomas Mawson of Kirkwood, NJ, Eleanor Godonis of Exton, PA., Elizabeth Salvatore of Ocala, FL., and Marjorie Priest of Kirkwood, NJ. Mrs. Blair had been a summer resident of Kirkwood since 1921, and became a permanent resident in 1944, making her a resident of Kirkwood for over 88 years. She was a Home Economics high school teacher in several local school districts. She was also active in the community, serving as Voorhees Township PTA President 1960-1962. Her greatest joys were family history and gatherings, boating with her husband "Bus" on the Mullica River, traveling, gardening, and growing roses in her backyard on Kirkwood Lake. Interment at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA, Friday, August 7 at 2:00 p.m. with her husband, Basil, who was a decorated World War II fighter pilot. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in memory of Mrs. Blair be made payable to the Camden County College Foundation, please indicate in the memo the "Virginia Blair Clevenger Scholarship".
