Obituary of Camilla L. Cornew

Passed away on September 7, 2012, peacefully at her home in Clementon, NJ. Camilla was born in Berlin, NJ on July 18, 1911. From the beginning she learned the meaning of a close-knit family and hard work. At home and at an early age she acquired cooking and maintenance skills. On her 17th birthday she received a gift from her father, a Model T Ford. She joyfully tooled around Camden County; the matriarch did not enjoy cranking it. She married John P. Cornew. In 1930 Camilla gave birth to a daughter Dolores Ross. In 1934 Constance N. Stead was born, her first son John P, Cornew Jr. (deceased May 2009) was born in 1941 and the youngest, Raymond Cornew. A grandson, Frank J. Ross, also survives her. The family and many friends will lament her death. As time wore on she became a fine chef and hostess. Camilla's dinner parties were always momentous occasions. The matriarch was a fashionable saleslady, dressing impeccably and always in the latest style. Up to the age of 79 she worked with caterers and became a waitress at the Beau Rivage in Medford, NJ. During her middle years she greatly enhanced her life through travel.
