Obituary of Leroy A. Heggan

Leroy A. Heggan, age 89 of Hammonton, passed away at home on Sunday October 7, 2012. Mr. Heggan was born in Winslow Twp and had been a lifetime area resident. He had faithfully defended his country in the U.S Army as a PFC serving in WWII. Leroy was self employed. He worked as the owner & operator of Leroy Heggan Roofing & Siding for 25 years before retiring in 1985. Leroy was a loving, generous and caring family man. He never missed any of his grandson's football games and was the major babysitter in the family. In his early years he enjoyed bowling and also enjoyed air shows and bird watching in his later years. His passion was farming and gardening and always shared his vegetables. Mr. Heggan is survived by his wife of 63 years Mary (nee Schepis) Heggan. He is the father of Linda & her husband Michael Zaleski and Debbie & her husband Tom Wells. Leroy is the proud grandfather of Casey and her husband Brian Schleper, Ricky, Katerina and great grandfather of Gemma and is the brother of Ida Weeks, Frederick, Ernest, Gerald and Herman Heggan. Relatives and friends are invited to join the Heggan family to remember, celebate and pay tribute to Leroy on Friday morning between 9 am and 11 am at the LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory 441 White Horse Pike Atco, where a funeral ceremony will begin at 11:00 am. Donald Gebhard, officiating. Interment & military honors will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Blue Anchor.
