Obituary of Savino A Vergoglini

Savino (Sam) Vergoglini, age 81, of Pennsauken, NJ, went to heaven 1/13/13 in the home of his daughter surrounded by the love of his family. Sam, “The Man with the Golden Hands”, born in Philadelphia, was always passionate about his work. He started as a carpenter and custom cabinetmaker, then his interests changed to film. He excelled and became an award winning cinematographer. Later he shared his passion and knowledge of the film industry and became an instructor at The Art Institute of Philadelphia where he made many lifelong friends with teachers and students. His son, Sammy, preceded him in death. Left to honor and remember Sam are his four children, Guy Vergoglini, Joanne (Al) Kopsick, Rocco Vergoglini, and Genaro Vergoglini; his five grandchildren, JoAnne (Doug) DeMille, Bert (Erin) Kopsick, Anthony Kopsick, Samantha Vergoglini, Rachael Vergoglini; and great-grandchildren, Vivian, Gage, Brayden and Noah; and sister Madeline Russo; and many nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held January 19, at the LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ from 11:00am – 1:00pm. With a Memorial Service to follow at 1:00pm. The family would like to extend its gratitude and appreciation to the caregivers and staff of Samaritan Hospice for their attentiveness and loving care and ask in lieu of flowers donations be made in Sam’s name to Samaritan Hospice, 5 Eves Drive, Suite 300, Marlton NJ 08053.
