Obituary of Mary D.J. Jacques
Mary Janelle Jacques, age 98, passed away at Cherry Hill Senior Living on January 31, 2013. A resident of Cherry Hill, NJ since October 2005, she was born on January 10, 1915 in Gardiner, Oregon. Mary graduated from Saint Helens Hall Junior College in Portland, OR in 1935. She worked at the US National Bank in Portland, OR until 1942 when she married Philippe G. Jacques of Worcester, MA. While he served in the army in the European Theater during WWII she worked at the Worcester County Trust. Following the war they moved to the Washington, DC area where Mr. Jacques worked in the public information field for the Army, State Department and Atomic Energy Commission. They were also stationed in Vienna, Austria with the State Department for three years from 1967-1970 where they were able to travel extensively throughout Europe. They later retired to Silver Spring, MD. They also had a vacation home in West Chatham, MA which they designed and built. In addition to home design, they also enjoyed researching genealogy and snow skiing, the latter they were able to do into their late 70’s. Mr. Jacques passed away in 1995. Mrs. Jacques is survived by her son Philippe A. Jacques of Cherry Hill, NJ, his wife Patricia and two grandchildren, Philippe L. and Janelle. Interment will be with her husband at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Cape Cod, MA.
