Obituary of Thomas J. Manning
Of Medford, NJ age 76yrs died peacefully at his home on Friday, July 24th. Tom was born in Haddonfield, NJ and attended Camden Catholic and Haddonfield High Schools. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Manning was a resident of Medford for most of his life. He built his first home with his own hands in Blue Lake in the late 1950's and later moved to Mimosa Lakes. Tom loved the pinelands.
He worked in the plumbing and HVAC fields before joining his beloved wife Helga in their business "Helga & Company" a workroom to the interior design trade. Tom was a very talented "Jack of all trades". He was an avid reader with special interest in history, philosophy, science and law. He loved music, dancing, listening to National Public Radio and the Phillies. He was a true gentleman who would lend a helping hand to anyone in need of his special talents. He was a recent member of the Unitarian Unversalist Church in Cherry Hill.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, John A. and Frances Manning, his beloved wife of 49 years, Helga Manning, and his 2 grandchildren, Kiersten Klepczyk and George Zimmel. He leaves behind his four children and their families, Lori and Tom O'Neil of Titusville, Kathleen Manning and Hal Slamp of Barrington, Susanne and Derik Zimmel of Grand Forks, ND, Thomas Jr. and Nadine Manning of Medford. Also 4 grandchildren, Peggy and Kevin Slamp, Ryan and Makenna Manning and a great grandson, Konrad Slamp. Tom will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Relatives and friends are invited to greet his family on Friday, July 31st from 2:00 to 3:30pm at the LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco, NJ (856)767-0539. A memorial service will be held at 3:30pm.
