Obituary of Patricia Ann Buck
Patricia (Kresge), born January 5, 1930, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, March 5 2013, at The Fountains in Atco, New Jersey. Patricia had formerly resided in Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia for 37 years
Born and raised in Stroudsburg, Pa., she was the daughter of Grover E. and Helen (Singer) Kresge. She attended the Pocono Township School in Tannersville and graduated in 1947. She was a seventh-generation descendent of the Monroe County Pioneer Conrad Kresge, who died in 1805.
Residing in Chestnut Hill until recently, Patricia graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Moravian College, and earned a Masters of Library Science from The University of Pittsburgh. She was a children’s librarian with the Johnstown Public Library early in her career, and then librarian with the Pedagogical Library at The Board of Education, Philadelphia
Growing up with her sisters at the McMichaels Hotel, which her parents operated in the Poconos for many years, she was an avid skier and fly fisherman.
In later years, our mother was a voracious reader, loved to needlepoint, was a puzzle devotee, and supporter of the visual arts. At heart, she possessed broad interests and enthusiasm for artistic expression of any kind, and she frequented exhibitions from a wide range of cultural institutions up until the time of her passing.
Mrs. Buck was married to Dr. George E. Buck in 1954, but the couple were later divorced. She is survived by her two daughters Andrea (Buck) Worrall and Sabrina (Buck) Shear; and four grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sisters, Nancy K. Usilton, and Sarabel K. Ryan.
Internment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Patricia’s memory to Moravian College.
