Helen Ogg

Obituary of Helen E. Ogg

On June 26, 2013, Helen Elizabeth Ogg (nee Glenn) age 84 of Berlin, NJ passed away after a hard fought battle against lymphoma. Beloved wife of Stanley “Sonny” Ogg for 57 years, who passed away this past March. She is also survived by her sister Dorothy Clark of Brigantine. Helen was a devoted mother of Mary Ann Gearin (Paul), Sue Wozniak (Joe), Joan Hanratty (Joe), Linda Jones (Mike), John Ogg (Sandy) and Lisa O’Mara (Jim). Adored and devoted “Grandmom” to 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Helen grew up in Philadelphia, attended Hallahan High School, and went to Misericordia Nursing School. Helen raised five daughters and a son all while working as a registered nurse (RN) at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, West Jersey (now Virtua), and JFK Hospital in Stratford. After 35 years as a devoted nurse, she retired. Helen was a sweet, loving, kind, and compassionate person and these qualities served her well not only as a nurse, but made her a wonderful human being, adored by her family, their friends, her friends and her co-workers. Helen lit up a room when she walked in and truly charmed everyone she met. She had a real zest for life – always looking for a new adventure, always wanting to hear and tell a good story, and always enjoyed a good giggle. She loved her music and loved to dance. Helen loved to drive and was always up for going anywhere her “wheels” would take her. She was funny, lively, and truly one-of-a-kind. The depth of the hole now in the lives of all who knew and loved her is deeper than words can describe. She was loved so much and gave so much love to her family and friends. Helen was generous in every way and truly selfless. She was the light of many lives now left to carry on her amazing legacy. Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate her wonderful life on Saturday, June 29, 2013. A viewing will be held from 9:15am to 10:15am at the St. Simon Stock Parish/Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 178 W. White Horse Pike, Berlin, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30am. Interment with Graveside Tribute will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Berlin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen’s name to the Cutaneous Lymphoma Research Fund, Abramson Cancer Center, Penn Medicine Development, 3535 Market St., Suite 750, Philadelphia, PA 19104.
