Obituary of Donald W Regn
Donald Wolfgang Regn, 91, of Stuart, FL died on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at the Treasure Coast Hospice Harper House. He was born on October 2, 1921 in Atco, NJ, son of John Wolfgang Regn, Jr. and Anna Veronica Mansmann Regn.
Donald resided in Atco, NJ until 1986 when he moved to Kitty Hawk, NC. He left his home and beautiful sunsets on the Albemarle Sound in 2006 and relocated to Stuart, FL.
An electrician by trade, Donald worked for Trumpy Yachts until he was called to serve in the U.S. Navy in Pensacola, FL in 1944. After his discharge he returned to NJ and worked at Matheson Shipyard and then the Delaware River Port Authority from which he retired as electric and maintenance supervisor in 1983. Also an accomplished carpenter and jack-of-all-trades, he built many boats and enjoyed time with his family and friends on the waters of Barnegat Bay, NJ and the Outer Banks, NC. From his teenage years until retirement he was a firefighter for the Atco Volunteer Fire Company, serving as Fire Chief for 17 years. He was a life member of the New Jersey State Firemen’s Association.
Donald was predeceased by his wife, Shirley (nee Fandrick) and his son, John. He is survived by his sister, Vera Dilzer of Pine Beach, NJ; daughters Marita DePree and Donna Greer (Charles) of Stuart, FL; son David (Ellen) of Indian Mills, NJ; daughter in law Deborah of Atco, NJ; grandchildren: Deborah Denning, Michael Hernandez, James Greer (Wendy), Marita Hernandez, Kathleen Trempe (Paul), John Regn Jr. (Stacia), Steven Regn (Tina), Chad Regn (Alicia), Sarah Regn, Bryan Regn and Abigail Regn; great-grandchildren: Kelly and Danielle Ormston; Charles, Joseph, Jonathon & Lillian Greer; Cheyenne, Brooke & Alexis Trempe; John, Rachel and Cole Regn; Aiden and Shane Regn; and Charles Regn.
Relatives and friends are invited to the viewing and funeral on Saturday, July 27, 2013 from 10 AM to 12 Noon at the Christ the Redeemer Parish/Assumption Church, 318 Carl Hasselhan Dr. in Atco where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon. Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Berlin, NJ.
