Obituary of Doris F. LeCates

Doris F.. LeCates (nee Funk) age 95 of Hammonton, NJ passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Virtual Hospital in Berlin. Mrs. LeCates was born in Phila, PA and lived in Oaklyn prior to moving to Hammonton, NJ in 1979. As a resident of Oaklyn, NJ she served as President and Trustee of the Oaklyn Woman's Club and was also very active in her community. She was also a member of the Athena Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star of New Jersey for 65 years. Doris was an expert seamstress. She also enjoyed craft work, gardening, vacations in Cape Cod, MA and Ocean City, NJ. She was a member of the 1935 Graduating Class of Haddon Hts. High school. She was a strong and easy going person who was also determined, serene, honest and funny. While representing the Oaklyn Woman's Club, Mrs. LeCates was named the 1st. place winner of the Third District of NJ in a Nationwide fashion sewing contest sponsor by the General Federation of Woman's Clubs and Vogue Magazine in 1959/1960. Mrs. LeCates had found her love in Avalon and is predeceased by her devoted husband of 71 years, Lester A. LeCates. She is the mother of Jacqueline L. Whitfield of Mt. Laurel. She is also survived by her nieces, Sandra B. D'Agostino of Hammonton and Janice L. Viola of Moorestown, a nephew, Robert L. LeCates of Camden, 2 Great nieces, Claudine Migliacco and Rochelle Salmon along with many other nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to join the LeCates family to remember and pay tribute to Doris July 27, 2013, Saturday afternoon between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm at the LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home & Crematory 441 White Horse Pike, Atco where Order of Eastern Star services and a memorial ceremony will be celebrated at 12:30 pm. Inurnment will be held privately.
