Ed Laird posted a condolence
I will remember Ray as a caring friend, always willing to help. As a past "commuting buddy", we spent a lot of time together; the conversations made the trips more bearable. My thoughts and prayers are with Eleanor, who he always talked about lovingly, and his children, who he was very proud of.
We will miss him.

Through my husband, I had the opportunity to have been touched by Ray and to know Eleanor and his children. I will always remember the smile Ray had, it was one of warmth yet shyness, ( or maybe it was that twinkle of mysteriousness or hidden humor ) that came shining through in his smile....it was something though....and I liked it! I remember going to his house to pick up a car that he wanted to get rid of and I did not want to acquire but did anyway ( and of course at the time I saw that smile!), ....of the LTK holiday parties where I usually could count on getting to see both he and Eleanor. Or his daughters wedding we attended where you could see the family warmth. I enjoyed hearing of the commuting stories that Ed shared for several years, including the motorcycle stories,.....I truly remember the fond look he had on his face when he and Eleanor were together. It was obvious that they had a fond connection very deep that lasted through the years.........it was wonderful to see. For his children......I'd see the smile there when he spoke about each of you.....clearly he was proud and supportive of his family.
My sincere and heartfelt thoughts go out to the entire family, and Eleanor, a very special hug to you.
Fondly, Amy

Ray was liked so much that it is hard to believe that he is no longer with us. His smile and witty sense of humor made him standout from the rest. His passing will be mourned by all those who knew him. My deepest sympathy to you and your family.
Respectfully Yours,
Amy Hanna (Ray's Secretary)

My fondest memory of Ray is his sense of calm and humor in the face of chaos. He worked with us on the Amtrak Acela Project and was always able to break up the mood with a light-hearted joke; getting a smile out of any of us. He will be missed by many, especially those who had the opportunity to appreciated his sense of humor.

I've known Ray & worked with him for about 20 years at LTK. He was always a consumate gentleman and a pleasure to be around. When I transferred back to the Philadelphia region from Washington, DC, in 1993, Ray took it upon himself to make me computer literate; we did not use them in our Washington office, so I was unfamiliar with computers. It was obvious that he adored his family and was totally smitten by his grandchildren, for he always shared pictures on his handheld device.
He was a good man, and I will miss him.
My sincere sympathy to Eleanor and the family.

A free spirit, a gentle soul. I didn't work with Ray, just in the same building. I knew all about his grandkids. That was someting he liked to share. A very comfortable person to be around. My thoughts are with you.

I had the same experience with Ray as Charlie McNitt. Ray's willingness to always lend a hand. He helped me enormously when I worked as an administrator in the LTK Philadelphia office. He wrote a program so that I could track petty cash, he developed forms on the computer which I was struggling to do on a typewriter, and wrote a program for keeping track of registration for an IEEE conference -- I can't begin to tell you how much that helped me and it worked flawlessly! He was always willing to help. I'm am so lucky my path crossed Ray's. I'll never forget him.
My sincere sympathy to his wife and family.

I am grateful for the many times that I have worked with Ray, over many years. I think back to the time with Ray, Dave Sanders and I pioneered a network in our offices at PNB. Being a mechanical engineer, I didn't add much - it was really Ray and Dave. But, this was so typical of Ray, as he looked for ways to reach out to the edges of technology to make everyone's life easier.
Lorraine and I regret that we will not be able to attend the service this evening. We send our most heartfelt sympathies to Eleanor and all of Ray's family.

He clearly loved his entire family and enjoyed sharing anedotes about his grandchildren, especially. It has been honor to know this man of uncommon humanity. God be with you all.

Ray was among the very first people I met and liked when I joined the LTK family @ 16 yrs. ago. I remember when his son worked here. Ray was always nice and polite to me. The very last conversation I had with him was Thurs. or Fri. morning. As always, Ray and I got to work about the same time. I told him I felt ill and perhaps I should go home early. Ray said, "that sounds like a plan to me." I will miss Ray. My condolences go out to his wife and their family. God Bless.
