Obituary of Richard E. McMahon, Esq.
Richard E. McMahon, Esq.
Passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at the age of 52. He left behind a legacy of good memories and laughter to remember him by. A native to Atco, Richard was a member of the Atco Lions Club for as long as any of his children could remember. He spent countless hours as a Lion donating his time to various charities and raising money and awareness for many causes. In his later years, he reconnected with his love of theatre through his children and lent both his legal and theatrical skills to many Arts Centers. Often found on stage or behind the scenes of the Road Company or DreamSpinners, he lifted up and inspired both children and adults. He was especially supportive of his children, Nicholas, Jamie and Steve in whatever dreams they had, and of his wife Jo whom he always believed was smart enough and talented enough to achieve anything. He never stopped pushing people to reach their goals no matter how high the star they reached for was. He was always there for people with a hug or a kind word and fought with everything he had to protect those he held most dear. He went to the ends of the earth for those he loved and will likely be best remembered for his stubborn will to help people succeed. More than anything, Richard believed that young people were the future and needed to be supported and nurtured. He leaves behind a loving wife, Jo-anne (nee Piazza), three children, Nicholas, Jamie Lynne and Steve, his mother, Ida McMahon and many dear friends who will always remember his smile and his pride and who will never forget all he did for them.
