Obituary of Pearl A. Wade

Pearl A. Wade (nee Shoemaker) Born on September 28, 1925, loving wife of the late Edward, beloved mother of Joyce Wade, Karl Wade and Andrew Wade passed away peacefully on October 8, 2008 at home. Pearl is also survived by grandsons Gregory Sharp, Raymond Von Rhine, Jason and Matthew Wade, and great granddaughters Alexis and Jacqueline Sharp. Her extended family includes daughter-in-law, Brenda Wade; granddaughter-in-law, Jennifer Sharp, Rachel Snyder, fianc of Raymond Von Rhine; and Christina Graziano, close friend of Andrew Wade. Pearl will be fondly remembered by many friends who shared her many interests. Pearl was married to Edward in 1945, and together they assisted in the planning and construction of the East Berlin Community Church and Sunday School at its present location. Pearl was active in the church for many years, often serving as Sunday School teacher, and also playing the piano during church services. Playing the piano was one of Pearls favorite pastimes, one she enjoyed until her declining health prevented her from it. Pearl and Edward were also actively involved in the ground breaking and building of Camp Haluwasa, a local Christian retreat for youth, located in Winslow, NJ. Throughout her lifetime, Pearl was also active in local politics, serving at the polling places as well as contributing time to various candidates campaigns. Pearl was also a long-standing member of the South Jersey Organic Gardening Club, an interest stemming from her childhood years spent on a farm. Though limited in her later years, Pearl continued to cultivate her own personal garden as much as she was able. Pearl also had a passion for painting. Often she could be found mixing cans of paint and preparing an area for her brush strokes. In her early years Pearl would have Edward hold the ladder so she could paint the second story. As a youth growing up in Evesham Township, before electricity or automobiles were common, Pearl was no stranger to hard work and would often relate her memories to friends and family. Pearl was very intelligent and loved to learn, despite the hardship, she took the train to Haddonfield each day, in order to attend Haddonfield High School, graduating in 1943. After a brief employment at the Berlin Post Office, Pearl settled down with Edward Wade, a proud WWII Veteran and survivor of the attack on Pearl Harbor. Together Ed and Pearl raised three children and made their home in Atco, NJ. Alongside her husband, Pearl helped to pioneer recycling of metal, glass and other items for their community by starting the business that has grown into Wade Salvage, Inc. and Wade Environmental serving four locations in the US and throughout the Caribbean. Pearl and Edward enjoyed more than 60 years of marriage in which they were partners, that ended with Edwards passing in January, 2005. With Pearls passing, they are once again, united. Pearl will sadly be missed by all who knew her. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Pearls viewing on Sunday evening, October 12, 2008 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm and then again on Monday, October 13, 2008 from 9:00am to 11:00am at the LeRoy P.
