Helen Waley posted a condolence
Dear Mil,
When I heard of your passing I wanted to cry but I decided I was not going to cry because I know you are in a better place.
God has granted you a good long life. My only wish was that we could have spent more time together.
But because of age , illness and such distance between us it was difficult to get together but I have precious memories. I will always remember the 2 weeks we spent together each summer in NJ and the long walks we took after dinner.
My fondest memories of you are what a good wife and mother you were to your family. Sis, I will never forget you and you will always be in my heart.
Poem
God looked around his garden and found an empty place
than he looked upon earth and found your tired face
he wrapped his arms around you and lifted you up to rest
God’s garden must be beautiful as he always picks the best
I sister you
Sister Helen.

Bingo, wrestling, gardening, cats, casino, fashion, elegance, patience and family- these are the words that remind me of my grandmom. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother & friend. She was a walking piece of history and lived through things that are hard for me to even begin to imagine. She raised her kids through tough times in America, but she always lived life to the fullest!...and was always on the go! She enjoyed time spent with family, always cooking and feeding anyone who was hungry-even her stray little friends. I am sure each of us here today has something to share on how my grandmother has touched their life in some way.
Our family is a tree with all the branches & leaves leading back to a strong sturdy woman with roots deep in the ground.
It's difficult to imagine life without her, the foundation that gave us all life.
Her body may be gone, but she lives on in the deepest fiber of our being. Her life, blood & memory live on in us, her children & grandchildren.
We are her legacy & lifes work & I am proud & grateful everyday to belong to such a beautiful lady.

MY MOTHER INLAW
Being married to Millie's first born, Jimmy can you imagine when I told her I was going to make her a grandmother she let me know she was expecting also.
So on October 28 I had a boy James Harry Townsend Jr and on October 31 she had her son Billy.
We were in Cooper Hospital side by side in the same room. In those days they kept you in the hospital 7 days
On the day Billy was born a nurse came into our room with the baby and took me out of my bed to Millie's bed and she took the diaper off the
baby to prove to Milly that the baby was her 4th boy.
So Jim Jr got a uncle 3 days younger than him and Jim Sr. got a new baby brother.
Milly was a perfect Mother In Law. Milly was a super grandmother and great grandmother

I have so many wonderful memories as she would take me shopping in downtown Camden. I used to watch her paint her long finger nails and toe nails a very bright red. We would stroll in her garden in Camden and West Berlin to look and prune all her beautiful flowers, pull weeds and she would tell me how to keep the floweres blooming.
We used to watch wrestling on Saturday nights and no matter how hard I tried to convience her it was fake she believed the fights were real.
She came to Texas and of course we had to play bingo several times. She never got tired of playing and winning !
When I would come up from Texas we would visit all the dollar stores to make sure we didn't miss anything. We had many long late night conversations on the phone. I will truly miss her
