Obituary of Mildred H. Townsend

Mildred H. Townsend (nee Hook) of Berlin Twp., NJ, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2009 at the age of 96. Wife of the late David and beloved companion of the late Joe. Devoted mother of David (Alta) of FL, James (Anne) of FL, George (Barbara) of Woodlynne, NJ, William of Berlin, NJ, the late Frances and the late John. Dear sister of Helen of MD, as well as 6 brothers and 2 sisters who preceded her in death. She is the proud grandmother of 12, great grandmother of 34, and great great grandmother of 5. Mildred was a loving homemaker who was "always on the go."She loved to work at the voting polls on Election Day and drove her car until the age of 90.She enjoyed playing bingo, trips to the casino, gardening, and watching wrestling with her grandchildren. Mildred was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need, and was well known for her love of cats. There was never a stray that she would not take in, always offering food and a warm safe place for them to sleep. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Friday from 10am to 12pm at the LeRoy P. Wooster Funeral Home, 441 White Horse Pike, Atco (856)767-0539. Services will begin at 12pm. Interment will follow at Bethel Memorial Park, Pennsauken, NJ.
