Obituary of Ravi S. Mahadevan

On Tuesday, the world lost a priceless asset, an irreplaceable commodity, a precious jewel. An amazing human being. My Appa was an inspiration to everyone he met. Whether it be an airline call center representative or a hospice nurse, he can make everyone love him beyond measure. His true character is one who is loving and generous. He is the type of person who we always expect to come out of an airport late because he will be helping some elderly person with their luggage or holding their hands. He would never let himself fall into a place where he is not poised and graceful, even when the end was near. No one I know has a bad word to say about him. He was the embodiment of true love and peace. If our world was filled with more people like him the human race would be much better off. I strive during my life to try to be like him, because no one can ever equal him, not even myself. He had a passion and zeal for life that he wouldn’t relinquish, and no one will ever forget. I’ve never seen someone be able to make someone like them as quickly as he did. It was his personality that will ever pervade all of our memories. Although he is physically not with us anymore he will never ever be gone from our memories. I love you so much Appa, and I know you know that. You were the best father a son could have asked for. You fought an amazing fight, defeating all the odds, and leaving doctors awestruck. Yet when you knew the end was near, you held your poise and passed the way you wanted to, with all of us sitting around you chatting away. I wish that in my life I can strive to be like you. So Appa, keep on driving that yellow submarine in heaven, and don’t forget to fix their filing system! This was a poem written by the hospice nurses: GOD saw you getting tired And a cure was not to be So He put His arms around you And whispered, Come to Me. With tearful eyes we watched you And saw you pass away And although we loved you dearly We could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating Hard working hands at rest GOD broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best
