Joseph Swider

Obituary of Joseph A. Swider

Safely home on July 14, 2016, Joe was embraced by God and welcomed into his eternal home in heaven. Devoted husband of 23 years to Donna (Kucheruck) and champion Dad to Shannon Bishop (Jeff), Jason Swider (Kim Whelan), Jenny Filart (Dr. Mike) and Luke Swider (Dani). Blessed to be Pop Pop to Jack, Grace, Isabella, Sam, Aaron, Harrison, Layla, JJ, Cali, Ryan and baby Shea. Joe worked as a Master Plumber for many years but his passion was carpentry. Joe was lovingly referred to as St. Go-To as he would always be there for anyone in need or challenged by life's dilemmas and needed answers to home repairs, math problems, directions or cooking. Joe was dedicated to the Assumption Church in Atco where he worked and volunteered. He loved his church with great passion. He was a beautiful Christian. The only way to memorialize Joe is to perform an act of kindness, help someone in need, tell a funny story or give comfort. This is his legacy. Joe is survived by best sister ever, Laurie Burdick, brother Tom Swider (Donna) and pre deceased brother Bud Swider (Sue). He is survived by his mother in law Edna Kucheruck and pre deceased by his parents Frank and Frances Swider. Loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. From the bottom of Joe's heart and his family, thank you to all of the supporters and nurses throughout his ALS journey. Joe was an inspiration to many and had great strength, courage and most of all, faith. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Wednesday, July 20, 2016 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at the Christ the Redeemer Parish/Assumption Church, 318 Carl Hasselhan Dr., Atco, NJ. A second viewing will be held Thursday morning, July 21, 2016 from 9:00am to 10:00am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial which will be celebrated at 10:30am. Interment will follow at the Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, NJ. It is strongly suggested that in lieu of flowers, a memorial contributions in Joe's name may be made to the Christ the Redeemer Parish/Assumption Church at the above address.
