Obituary
Obituary of Louis A. Simoni
If you took the strength of a mountain, the majesty of a tree and the calm of a quiet sea, add the wisdom of the ages, the patience of eternity and the depth of family need. The masterpiece is complete. Louis A. Simoni was born in and spent his entire life in the city of brotherly love. Lou faithfully defended his country during WWII as a PFC, Military Police in the U.S. Army and had participated in the European Theater.
I did not believe I could ever say these words, beyond the most precious, that's where you are. Beyond the most beautiful that's where you are for me. In 1947 Lou swept 19 year old Rita Cappello off her feet. They were married and began making their home in Philadelphia. Lou loved to be home. He was a happy go lucky kinda guy, a dedicated family man who provided for his family. He loved to joke around, cheer on the Phillies and walk up to the Italian Market to get his fresh vegetables. Mr. Simoni was a hard worker and had many jobs. He made his career as a Tool Crib Manager at Westinghouse before retiring 21 years ago. On Wednesday February 2, 2011 at Vitas Hospice in Methodist Hospital, it was Con Te Partiro. After 83 years Lou could not stay another day to laugh, to love, to work or play. It was time to say goodbye.
A long life shared together holds many memories. May those memories keep you company during the lonely times. Lou is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 63 years Rita C. (nee Cappello) of Philadelphia. He is the father of Amelia R. & her husband Jerry Santroni of Atco, Doreen A. Mannello of Brigantine, Vincent B. of Blackwood and Louis J. of Merchantville. He is the proud grandfather of Damien Santroni, Lori Simoni-Panza, Louis Simoni, Vincent Mannello great grandfather of Louis Vincent Panza and is also survived by his brother-in-law Michael Cappello of Wesconsville, PA.
Relatives and friends are invited to Lou's viewing on Tuesday morning between 9 and 10:30 am at St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church 9th & Watkins Sts., Philadelphia where a Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am. Inurnment will be held privately.
As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers donations can be made to Amelia Santroni C/O Wooster funeral home P.O. Box 297, Atco NJ 08004 for a memorial plaque, in his name, to be displayed as part of the "END OF LIFE TREE" at the Vitas Hospice Center at Methodist Hospital.
