Obituary of Lucindy Francis Porter

Lucindy Frances Porter, 85 yrs of Chesilhurst, New Jersey, departed this life on Monday, January 27, 2020 at Samaritan Hospice, Voorhees, New Jersey. Born November 24, 1934 in Clemson, South Carolina she was the fourth child and only girl of the Late Tody Foster, Sr. and Mildred L. Brown, At an early age along with her parents Frances relocated to Newark New Jersey where she did all of her schooling. Frances is a Past Matron of Bethel Chapter #10 and prior to her death she was a member of Arbor Vitae Chapter #40 Order of the Eastern Star; Past Illustrious Commandress, Golconda Court #16 Subordinate of the Imperial Court Daughters; Past Most Ancient Matron Deborah Court #9, Heroines of Jericho. Frances also held membership with Rose of Sharon Assembly #83 Order of the Golden Circle and Haggai Court #3 Ladies of the Circle of Perfection, all are Prince Hall Affiliation. In 1992 Frances retired from the Postal Service as the Financial Manager. On November 30, 1974 Frances marries the Love of her life Robert L. Porter, Sr. "Hummingbird". Two families were joined. Prior to her moving to South Jersey in 2006 she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Nutley, New Jersey for many years. Frances was a well-spoken and respected woman who enjoyed sharing her wisdom and giving words of encouragement. So often you would hear her say "what do you mean you can't , yes you can just apply yourself and do it". Frances was an amazing Mother, Wife and Sister. Anyone that knew her knew that she and her husband loved to travel. They would be on one trip planning their next. The love that she had for her family and friends was unconditional and would help out when ever asked. Frances was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Tody Jr., James and Argentine. She is survived by her daughter, Carlotta, son-in-law George (Chesilhurst), Robin (New York) and son Robert L. Porter, Jr. (New York). A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. A special thank you to George, Brenda and young Iyana for assisting with her daily activities and functions.
