Della was my godmother and my mom's best friend. She babysat for my daughter, Sherri, Joseph and Michael Carruolo, and many other children through the years. They were lucky to have her and all loved her. I know, because when I was a young child, I spent many hours by her side, visiting and watching her do her chores. I was really impressed that her ironing board was built into a little closet and would love when she'd teach me to iron. When I grew up I had my builder make me a built in ironing board and always thought of my godmother when I used it. Della was such a special person...soft-spoken, warm, loving. I can still hear her "threaten" the kids with "bustunadies" if they didn't behave. As an adult, Della and her husband, Nein, were frequent visitors at my parents' house. We all played pinochle and Della and Mom partnered up...they used hand signals to each other to let the other one know what to make trump...they thought no one knew! Della outlived her husband and my mom and dad. She really missed them. The world was a better place because my beloved godmother, Della Ricca, was in it. She will be remembered lovingly. I live in Florida and just found out she passed away. Goodbye, Comare, love you!
